Health & Medical Freedom

· Making Texas Healthy Again was a big priority in 2025 – SB 25, which I co-authored, requires more stringent Physical Education (P.E.) requirements in Kindergarten through 12th Grade and establishes label requirements for foods containing certain ingredients.

· SB 379 is another MAHA bill that removes unhealthy food and drinks from qualifying for SNAP benefits. This law ensures that children are being fed quality food with government funding rather than spending these funds on candy or sodas.

· HB 3441 – Empowers individuals to legally pursue vaccine manufacturers if the vaccine advertised causes harm to someone. If a product is being pushed to the public, the company advertising should be held legally liable for the subsequent harms.

· One of many significant healthcare issues Texans faced prior to the 2021 legislative session was surprise medical bills. When a patient’s hospital and doctor were in-network, he or she could still be hit with outrageous medical bills from other providers engaged in the procedure. In response, I helped pass SB 1264 to end surprise medical bills in Texas.

· In 2023, I helped pass another major win for healthcare competition and transparency in HB 711. This bill eliminates anti-competitive clauses in healthcare contracts and opens the state to more competition among providers by providing greater cost transparency for patients to access before seeking treatment.

· Along those same lines, I supported and helped pass SB 490, which requires hospitals and other healthcare facilities to provide an itemized billing to patients before seeking final payment. SB 490 is a major win for transparency in healthcare costs.
