On Wednesday, Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen formally announced committee assignments, inaugurating a new period of activity in the legislative session. HD 106’s Representative Jared Patterson received an appointment to three committees: Business and Industry, Resolutions Calendars, and Urban Affairs.
The Committee on Business and Industry oversees a wide range of issues affecting commerce in Texas, including workers’ compensation, unemployment, consumer protection, homeowners’ associations, and the Texas Department of Insurance. “The thriving Texas economy continues to be the envy of the nation,” said Representative Patterson. “I look forward to doing my part on B&I to keep it that way.”
The Committee on Urban Affairs oversees issues affecting metropolitan areas, including matters pertaining to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and land use regulation by municipalities.
“As a former city councilman, I look forward to participating in the committee discussions on issues affecting municipalities. HD 106 is the fastest growing area in the country, and I’m confident my Urban Affairs service will be of benefit to the cities and taxpayers of my district.”
Elected in November, Patterson’s district encompasses eastern Denton County. Rep. Patterson and his family reside in Frisco.
