(Austin, TX) – Speaker Dustin Burrows has appointed Representative Jared Patterson to serve as Chairman of the influential Local & Consent Calendars Committee and as a member of the House Committees on Transportation and Licensing & Administrative Procedures.
A powerful role to help Members serve their districts, approximately 40% of all bills passed by the Texas House or Texas Senate move through the Local & Consent Calendars Committee. This session, the committee is also tasked with the responsibilities of the former House Resolutions Calendars Committee, which was absorbed in the House Rules for the 89th Legislature.
Rep. Patterson will also continue to serve on the two substantive committees he served on last session, Transportation and Licensing & Administrative Procedures. Rep. Patterson was also chosen to sit on the Transportation Subcommittee on Transportation Funding.
The Committee on Transportation is tasked with the regulation of motor vehicles, railroads, airports, water transportation, and the Texas Highway System. The Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures oversees most regulated industries in Texas, including the sale of alcohol, licensed trades, real estate, and gaming. Both committees are chaired by former Texas House Speakers.
“I am thankful Speaker Dustin Burrows has entrusted me with such responsibility this session. These committees allow me an opportunity to better serve the needs of Denton County residents and all 31 million Texans across the state,” stated Rep. Patterson. “For the first time in history and in a reflection of the House’s Republican majority, every committee will be chaired by a Republican and all committees and subcommittees are comprised of Republican majorities. I’m so proud to be a part of this team and am eager to get started in this new role.”
State Representative Jared Patterson is serving his fourth term representing House District 106 in Denton County. Patterson is the Chairman of the Local & Consent Calendars Committee. He also serves on the House Committees on Licensing & Administrative Procedures, Transportation, and the Subcommittee on Transportation Funding. He and his family reside in Frisco.
