REP. PATTERSON SELECTS FORD COOPER FOR TEXAS ARMED SERVICES

(Austin, TX) – State Representative Jared Patterson is proud to announce he has selected Ford Cooper as his nominee for the 2024 – 2025 Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP). Each year, Texas state legislators may appoint one student for the TASSP, a state program created to encourage students in Texas to participate in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) at civilian colleges, with the goal of ultimately becoming officers in the United States Military.

Ford studies business and law at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. He serves in the ROTC at the University. Before attending St. Mary’s, Ford demonstrated his leadership at Lone Star High School in Frisco ISD. His strong presence within Lone Star High’s golf team through lettering three years while maintaining at 4.61 high school GPA and concurrently a 3.7 college GPA through the University of North Texas NOW Program.

Rep. Patterson is confident Ford will continue to succeed in any endeavor he chooses to pursue and is grateful for the opportunity to assist him in easing the financial burden through the TASSP. “I am proud to recognize Ford for his choice to give back to their state and country. Ford has succeeded within his high school, and I cannot wait to see the difterence he will make at the Saint Mary’s University.” stated Rep. Patterson. “Additionally, I am grateful for my Veteran’s Committee, established in 2021, and their assistance in this process and all other matters pertaining to Veteran’s Affairs. Each of the member’s respective military experience is absolutely invaluable in choosing the TASSP recipient and I greatly appreciate their efforts.”

Jared Patterson represents House District 106, in Denton County. Patterson serves as Chairman of the Select Committee to Protect Texas LNG Exports and Joint-Chairman of the Study Committee on Effects of Media on Minors. He also serves on the House Committees on Calendars, Transportation, and Licensing & Administrative Procedures, and as Policy Chair of the Texas House Republican Caucus. His family resides in Frisco.
