Since last fall, Rep. Jared Patterson have been working to prevent the presence of graphic and sexually explicit books in public schools across the state. Throughout this time, many constituents, parents, local leaders, and other state legislators have joined his efforts to remove these sexually explicit books. In May of this year, Little Elm ISD Superintendent Daniel Gallagher proposed policies to review instructional materials with EFA Local and parental access to book databases and knowledge of books checked out by an individuals’ child with EFB Local. Last night, the Board of Trustees took formal action to adopt new policies related to sexually explicit materials.
“I am pleased to see the progress that has transpired with the passage of this policy in last night’s board meeting.” said Rep. Patterson. “It is now the formal policy of Little Elm ISD to act swiftly to remove vulgar, sexually explicit materials from student access. I am grateful for their work on this matter and look forward to working with them in the future.”
Jared Patterson represents House District 106, which encompasses the eastern portion of Denton County. During the 86th Legislative Session, Patterson authored and passed initiatives in policy areas such as transportation, education, property taxes, as well as eliminated unnecessary and burdensome government regulations. Patterson serves on the House Committees on Business & Industry, Calendars, and Homeland Security & Public Safety. He also serves on the Texas Cybersecurity Council. His family resides in Frisco.
